The National Disaster Operations Centre (NDOC) in Kenya, also known as the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), plays a critical role in coordinating disaster preparedness, response, and management efforts within the country. a) Describe FIVE roles delegated to the organization. (10 Marks) b) Describe FIVE short-term socioeconomic effects of floods experienced by most Kenyans as a result of the El Nino. (10 Marks) 13. In 2017 and 2018, massive fires swept across the Aberdare forest, killing animals and destroying vegetation. The forest not only provides water for most households in Kenya but also provides a habitat for wild animals. Community members from the northern part of Aberdare forest in central Kenya were among the first responders to help put out the fire. However, they faced a myriad of challenges and the fire caused a destruction of over 550 hectares (1.359 acres) of the forest. The failure to efficiently respond to the disaster necessitated the need for members to be trained in disaster management. a) Using a well-labeled cycle, describe the FIVE elements of disaster management a social worker can train community members on.
